Review: Barras Bravas (Azul y Blanco 2004)

Barras Bravas (2004)

Barras Bravas (originally titled Azul y Blanco) is a very low budget Chilean spin on West Side Story–without music, soccer, or any entertainment value. Two rival gangs, who belong to different supporters groups (barras bravas), drive around looking for each other and their two star-crossed lovers so they can have knife fights and kill each other.

In the beginning and end, there are appearances by Iván Luis Zamorano Zamora, one of Chile’s most famous footballers. There is no real soccer in this movie, but there are long shots of stadium fans. Most of the movie seems to take place in a car.

Horrible movie. Don’t watch it. It’s worse than Football Factory, if that’s possible.

In Spanish with English subtitles. Some sex/nudity.
